Giveaway Ending Today & A Little Update and Thankyou!

 Good Morning everyone!

Just a little reminder that my little 200 follower giveaway ends tonight, so hot foot it to the original post or click the link in my sidebar if you fancy entering!

I also wanted to say a big thankyou to all my followers - Its not the biggest number in the blogging world, but i'm genuinely surprised that nearly 250 of you have clicked that follow button, and a thankyou to those who take the time to comment on my posts :) I remember reaching 50 followers and  thought that was alot!

Im hoping posts will become more of a regular occurance after Easter, when hopefully we shall be moved into our new house, and the mammoth task of renovating and decorating should have ceased! For those that see my moans on twitter or have seen my ramblings in previous posts, the house has now been replastered from top to bottom, the re-wire is nearly complete with just the last few lights going up, the kitchen is being put together by my Dad as we speak, and the sofa, carpet and appliances should arrive soon! The walls are being sealed which means we can start picking out paint colours and should hopefully be able to put up wall paper on the feature wall in the bedroom! We have completely gutted our little unloved house, and its slowly beginning to feel like a home rather than a building site!

This is the kitchen weve chosen - were going with a dark worktop with slate floor & wall tiles, with amazing glittery mosaic tiles for the border!
I have a long list of things to blog about, which include:

* New Paperchase Storage
* Clinique purchases & an amazing Clinique free gift
* Giveaway prizes from the lovely Belinda at Fashion Crossing
* Review of my first MAC MSF
* NOTD featuring newly aquired OPI's My Private Jet, China Glaze Below Deck, and a Gosh glitter polish

Thanks for sticking with me, blogging should return to normal in the next couple of weeks! All hands on deck to finish the house now!

* Simple Eye Makeup Corrector Pen *

Evening girlies!

I came home today to a little mystery envelope today, and inside was the new Simple eye make-up corrector pen! This came as I am a part of the Simple VIP club - see the button on the side of my blog for more info on this!

As you can see, it boasts a non-greasy formula, with a precision tip that removes eye make up mistakes, which even includes waterproof mascara! This is perfect for me as I always tend to make mistakes with eyeliner - no more touching up with a cotton bud for me!

What Simple say:

"It's time to wave goodbye to make up mishaps and make room for a new handbag essential… introducing the new Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Make-Up Corrector Pen. Its ingenious pen-like design dispenses the award-winning Simple eye make up remover, so you can precisely and easily wipe away those day-to-day make up mistakes like smudges, flaking, streaks and even waterproof mascara, while leaving the rest of your make up untouched. Even better, it contains Pro-Vitamin B5, and with no perfume and no colour, it's suitable for the delicate skin around your eyes, perfect even for sensitive skin"

Simple Goodness:
  • Pro-Vitamin B5 actively restores, softens and smoothes
  • No Alcohol, No Oil
  • Non Drying and Non Greasy
  • No Perfume, No Colour
  • No unnecessary ingredients and No harsh chemicals so it won’t upset your skin.
  • Dermatologically Tested and Approved

It is recommended that you hold the pen upside-down for 10-15 seconds, use, then wipe with a makeup remover wipe to keep the pen looking fresh and free from any clumps.
You can see the results here:

This is released on 23rd March, and will retail at a very reasonable £4.99.
Does anyone think they will be making a purchase? I was definately eyeing this up before I received one!

* Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation * Shade 51 & 52

Evening ladies!

Tonight I thought i'd share some thoughts on my newest foundation - Bourjois Healthy Mix. Id read some good reviews in the papers/magazines, and saw some good blog posts floating around, so I decided to give it a go, rather that shelling out £20-odd on my usual Clinique Superbalanced Foundation. I tend to only wear this in the day time, saving my higher-end foundations for evening wear.

I have 2 shades - Light Vanilla (51) for the winter months and Vanilla (52) for when I have a bit of a tan!

It boasts a 16hr coverage, which I dont particulary find entirely true - I definately need a top up after a full shift at work if i'm off out anywhere, but on a weekend, throughout the day it seems to last pretty well - not sure how this works, lol!

I do like the scent, and it gives a good medium coverage - not too heavy and not too light. Its also pretty buildable. It also promises a 'Fruit therapy radiance boost' - but in all honesty, im not sure it makes my skin any better than my Clinique really!

It also comes with a handy pump, which is a plus - my Clinique is just an open bottle!

Here I have compared the 2 shades:
Left - Light Vanilla (51)  ~ Right - Vanilla (52)

Left - Light Vanilla (51)  ~ Right - Vanilla (52)
This one is the opposite way round, Vanilla on the left, Light on the right. You can see there is quite a difference between then two.

Here you can see the coverage (layered on a bit thicker than I would normally wear it!) You can see how it gives a nice even tone, and covers up a mole relatively well, so its not bad for evening out skin tone.

So - thoughts in a nutshell:
Price - £9.99 -  4/5
Coverage - 3/5
Does what it promises? 3/5
Repurchase? - Yes - unless I find something to top this one!

Let me know your thoughts on this one - does it work for you?
Thanks for reading :)

ELF Mineral Blush -Joy - a Dandelion Dupe?

I hit pan on my beloved Benefit Dandelion blush a couple of weeks ago, so I set out to find a new blush, that would not break the bank so much as Dandelion did! I do love it, and I will probably get alot more use out of it, but I fancied a loose powder blush this time, so off I trotted to the ELF website.

Working in a school means that my makeup is usually quite natural in the daytime (I save darker toned blushes for evenings!), so a light pink just gives a hint of colour in the winter & spring months until the bronzer comes out! I know that technically Dandelion is a brightening face powder, but I only use it on my cheeks.

After pondering for a while ; researching various swatches, I settled for ELF's Mineral Blush in Joy. It is described as a mauve-lilac colour, and is a perfect neutral toned pink. It is 100% mineral based, with no parabens, preservatives or chemical dyes.

I also compared it with Benefit Dandelion, also described a pink/mauve- I think its a pretty decent dupe!
You do get much more product with Benefit - 0.35oz compared with ELF's 0.12oz.
Dandelion retails at a whopping £24, compared to ELF at a teeny £3.50.

Dandelion has more of a shimmer and seems softer than the ELF blush, but the ELF blush seems much more durable. I swatched them on my arm, and after checking later, the Benefit blush had nearly worn away, leaving the ELF blush still visable!

Both seem to have their own pro's - Dandelion does have its own special features that make it such good quality, but for an everyday dupe, its affordable price & wearability, Joy isnt bad at all! Lets see what happens when I do run out of Dandelion - will ELF convince me not to repurchase?

Have you tried any ELF blushes? What were your thoughts?

* Nifty Scarf Storage! *

After looking despairingly at my scarf collection over the last few weeks - I decided I needed a storage solution that would hold my vast collection of scarves, without breaking the bank, or taking up too much room in my bedroom! I saw someone mention a butterfly scarf holder on a blog a while back and decided to look it up - If you think I got the idea from you, please leave a comment & i'll credit you!

This is what I came up with!

It was a bargain from Ebay at only £3.99. with £2.49 postage. I like how it can be stored in a wardrobe or on display - the many holes allow you to store a plethora of scarves and its saved the back of my door looking like a scarf bomb exploded on it!

What do you think girls?

Primark Goodies!

Evening lovelies!

Last week I popped to Primark, and actually had the time to have a proper look around - the Bristol one is huuuge and you need a while to ensure you see everything! My boy was super patient and didnt moan at me, and was really helpful! Here's a selection of the things I picked up alongside the ususla staples of tights etc!

Flower Print Dress - £7

I LOVE this! I don't normally pick up dresses from Primark, but this one caught my eye! I love how you can wear this with leggings, boots and a cardi for the winter, and flipflops in the summer.

I also picked up their staple flipflops for summer! I think they were £2.50.

This year the toe detailing is slightly different, having a crossover front.
I only bought one pair as I find they dont last me too long, whereas Newlooks seem a bit more durable. Last year, however, the flip flops I wanted from Newlook seemed to be constantly sold out in the tan colour I wanted, hance why I got this pair just in case!

I also picked up a couple of £2 plimsolls for work.

And secondly for work, some cardigans - I only wanted cheapy ones as they get covered in paint, food, and alot worse!!
The teal and the grey long cardi's were £9 each, but please forgive the £10 H&M imposter on the end ;)

I hope you liked my purchases! Primark had lots of other nice dresses, but sadly they had sold out of my size...sigh. Maybe next time!
