And there will be sun, sun, sun.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sun! It was so hot at work yesterday, the kids definately dont enjoy the heat!

Like most normal girls, I seem to have a slight problem with candles, in which I cannot seem to stop buying them! I thought I would share my current favourites that are burning in my house at the moment.

Apologies, I am pretty impatient and I did not take a picture of them looking pristine and un-burned sadly!

First up are my two Bomb Cosmetics candles in Gorgeous and Sex on Fire.  We picked them up for £7.25 from a cornish shop, but they are available on their own website or on ebay.

These smell beautiful! They are made with pure essential oils, and these two smell fab. Each one is decorated with cute little hearts too. I will admit though, I did put down about 15 other candles from this range because I hated the smell of them, but I am quite picky!

Sex on Fire is made with  ylang ylang and mandarin essential oils, and smells so homely and fruity - definately a repurchase for me.
Gorgeous is made with geranium and lemon essential oils, but the smell is quite difficult to describe! It reminds me of fruity sweets!

Next up are my Yankee samplers. I picked these up from Cadbury Garden Centre (I love it there!). I chose Bahama Breeze, and the Boy chose Stawberry.

I would love to try some different ones, what are your recommendations?

Summer Shoes

My shoe collection seems to be growing recently, much to my boys/parents dismay. Even though I moved out a year ago, my Dad still feels the need to moan about my shoes, ha. I picked up these flats from Primark a few weeks ago now and have only just got round to wearing them. They were around the £6 mark I think - I like the floral print, and havent really got any shoes in this style so they make a nice change from flip flops!

I also picked up these New Look wedges - i've been on a constant hunt for the perfect pair of tan wedges and for now, these can fit the bill! They fit perfectly, and, as a bonus, I can walk in them, hooray! Ive paired them up with a number of different outfits since buying them and so far, so good.

You can find them here, for £24.99.

Im also eyeing up these beauties, but for now, one pair of brown wedges is enough! Im liking the cross oer style at the moment, they're a little similar to the black suede wedges I bought a little while back! (see here!) Im not sure how long i'll last though before giving in!

New Look, £24.99

Now all we need is a little sun and warmth! Paha, not likely...

Weekend Wishlist

Hello, hello - long time no blog!

I know, most of my posts seem to begin with this nowadays, but with summer creeping up and the 6 weeks holidays looming in a couple of months I shall have plenty of time to clog up your dashboards! I have still been tweeting and reading blogs though!

I though I would share just a few of the things I am coveting at the moment!
01.  Navy Polka Dot Dipped Hem Dress - £27.99  Link
02.  Red Mini Butterfly Print Dress- £16.99  Link
03. Benefit Porefessional Primer - £23.50 Link
04. Animal Kirsty Slip Ons – £22 - Link
05. Vera Wang Lovestruck - £35 - Link

Ive always benn a fan of NewLook dresses - I can always find something I like and ive never personally had a problem with the quality, their prices are always reasonable and affordable too. The tiny red butterflies on the 1st dress are so cute! This also comes in navy and white too, but the red just seems to stand out to me. The dipped hem phase is also taking my liking too with this polka dot number.

The shoes were something I kept picking up in Cornwall recently but I ended up buying a dress instead - I wish they did a size 5.5 as this would be perfect!

I fell in love with Lovestuck in the airport a month or so ago, this is definately a "me" smell. Im in two minds with the Porefessional  - Do I wait until the 31st for the Glamour freebies, or do I spend the £20 Boots gift card that is burning a hole in my pocket?

Let me know what you think of my picks!

Shoes and Shorts

Too soon for summer clothes...naaah?
Im off on holiday at the end of March to Mexico, and I saved my Christmas/Birthday money so I could treat myself to something new to sqeeze into my suitcase.

Beige Linen Shorts - £14.99 (see here)
High Waisted Coloured Shorts - £16.99 (see here for other colours)

I love the fit of both - the red/terracotta colour can be dressed up for the evening, and the beige are less fitted, ideal for daytime wear. Mr DTD has an NUS card (he works in a college, love this perk of the job!) and Newlook have a 20% off student discount running at the moment, saving me a bit of money.

I also tried these wedges on in a different branch today - at £24.99 they seem a bargain! I have a bit of a weakness for any shoes that are black and suede. I was restrained and put them back, and as mother rightly said, think of the 20% discount you could have. So of course, i'll definately be toddling back down there tomorrow armed with Mr and his NUS card!

La Senza Bargain alert!

Being half term, me and the fiance had a little mooch around the shops and I popped into La Senza. I'd heard La Senza were in trouble, and after browsing online and chatting on Twitter it seemed the stores and stock online were dwindling so I hoped to get some of my usual repurchases in case they disappeared!

Mr DTD pointed out that nearly ALL of the bras had a £5 tag above them - admittedly the nicer, fancier ones werent in stock, but all the black, white and nude colours were available in a multitude of styles.

I bought 3 of my usual repurchases that I would happily pay £16 a piece for, but ended up with all 3 for £15 - a pretty good saving huh!

The sales assistant said they has been taken over by a new company, so they wanted to sell of the old stock. If your store is still open (I heard that some had gone) It might be worth a look - a £33 saving isnt bad hey!

Batiste Cherry is here!

As do alot of bloggers, I too swear by the lifesaver we call Batiste.
The latest fragrance to be added to the growing line of dry shampoo is Cherry - a sweet and fruity addition.

This certainly has a strong, sweet smell, which isnt too cherry-like, more fruity and perfumey. I must be a bit odd, as I like cherries, but hate the artificial smell of cherry you can get. This definately will give your hair a fresh boost, and will be added to my repurchase list when it comes to choosing which flavour to purchase next. If sweet smells arent your thing, Blush or Tropical might be a better choice from the growing range.

Will you be picking up Cherry Batiste?

W7 Matte Lips

This is my latest love - W7 Mega Matte Lips.

I was stood in the queue at Newlook, and the way the store in Weston-Super-Mare is designed, the makeup items are conveniently placed next to the tills so you can make a well thought out purchase (ahem, impulse buy) as you wait to pay. I spotted this lonely lipgloss amongst some W7 nail polish, I dont normally go for matte lip colours, but the colour really stood out and it was so pigmented. And the price was a mere £1 for some reason, so obviously I had to indulge!

I believe the shade is either Take me out Tonight (see here) or possibly Coral (see here). It seems the general price is about £1.99 online.

The colour is a tad strong for me to wear fully, so a dab a little onto a brush or my finger, and apply lightly to my lips - it has great staying power in my opinion!

This is my first W7 product, simply because I havent come across any until now! What are your favourites?

Feathers and Sparkles

Hello hello!
Just a quick note before I begin this post - you may notice Daisy Loves has had a revamp! It is a work in progress, but my little blog and Twitter account have
a new name that I have been pondering over for a while, so welcome to the Dressing Table Diaries!
I felt like I had outgrown the Daisy Loves name - my blog adress is still under this name, but I may switch to a dot.com in the near future! Please let me know what you think!

Today I thought i'd pop a very quick post up about the neckalce my lovely mum ordered me after I admired it in the Avon catalogue before Christmas! Technically there are no feathers, but a peacock is a bird soo..!

I am aware that it is similar to the Accesorize version, but I think personally I prefer this one, as there is more detail on the 'tail' than on the other version.

I didnt buy it for myself as I didnt think I wiuld be able to wear it with much, but I was wrong - it looks lovely with so many outfits, and is perfect for livening up a plain jeans/cardi combo! I believe this retailed for £10, but sadly am not sure if its available any more.

Battle of the Dry Shampoo!

Hello there!

Long time no blog! Life just kind of ran away with me and blogging took a back seat (even though i've had plenty to blog about!). Teaching is hard work but I love it!

I thought i'd get back into the swing of things with a post i'd been meaning to write for a while; my views on my dry shampoo collection!

I have used 4 different dry shampoos recently - 3 from Batiste, and 1 from Superdrug. I thought I kept the empty bottle of Superdrugs version, but cannot find it, so I have borrowed one from superdrug.com!

From the Batiste range, I have tried the following:

I believe Original & Wild retail for around the 2.99 mark, and XXL Volume £3.99.

From the Superdrug Range I tried 'Away with the Fairies'. This happens to be a more purse friendly alternative, at £1.99, with buy 1 get 2 free at the moment!

Thoughts:

Batiste Original - In short - Love it! This makes my hair feel clean and refreshed - so much so that I am not sure how I lived without it! Sometimes I do get bored of the smell though and crave a different fragrance!
4/5.

Batiste Wild - Does the job as always, and I find the fragrance does last (I can often smell it later on in the day or the morning after i've applied it). It does have a musk smell, which I am not overly keen on, so I would prefer to try another flavour than repurchase this particular one.
3/5.

Batiste XXL Volume - I was desperate to try this, as my hair tends to stay quite flat, but sadly this just made my hair sticky and cakey - sadly not a repurchase. It seems to work much better on other people though!
2/5.

Superdrug Away with the Fairies - This had a nice fresh fragrance, but I felt it didn't leave my hair feeling as fresh and clean as Batiste - Bastise felt a little 'thicker' if that makes any sense? I wouldnt repurchase simply because I feel Batiste does a better job for my hair type, but it is a complete bargian at the moment!
2/5.

So overall, Batiste Original is the clear winner - I would like to try some other fragrances to hopefully find a staple product for my dressing table!

I have not tried Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo, but have just noticed it is on offer at Superdrug for £2.35 rather than £4.79 - bargain!

I'd love to hear about your favourites or dislikes, let me know!
Thankyou for reading, and I promise to get back in the swing of blogging!
